Doctors
Dr Angus Ferguson (Executive Partner) (m)
MB ChB, MRCGP I graduated from Glasgow University Medical School in 2001 and trained as a GP in Southampton Hospitals and then as a GP registrar in Portswood. I lived and worked as a GP in Australia for a year before joining the Grove Medical Practice in Spring 2007. I feel privileged to have the rewarding responsibility that being a GP brings and am fulfilled by it's constant challenges. I have broad clinical interests and take an active role in Practice Management. In 2010 I qualified as a GP Trainer. If I’m not at work you might see me chasing my children on their bikes and scooters or even swishing through the streets on my own bike. We try to take our holidays on a beach where we can park our campervan and indulge our passion for water sports. |
Dr Hana Burgess (f)
BM, BSc (hons), MRCGP, DRCGP I graduated from Southampton Medical School in 2006 and went on to work in Portsmouth for 2 years before returning to Southampton. I did part of my general practice training at The Grove Medical Practice, and I have also worked as a GP in Petersfield and Romsey. I have a range of clinical interests including Mental Health, Women’s Health and Lung Disease. I also have in interest in research. I lived in Southampton for 12 years, some of that time spent in Shirley. Recently, I moved to the New Forest with my husband and young son. Most weekends we can be found out on walks in the forest and doing lots of puddle splashing! |

Hospital experience includes General medicine, Respiratory medicine, Rheumatology, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Elderly Care, Orthogeriatrics and Emergency Medicine. He is a 6 session partner working on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. He is also the Urgent Care Clinical lead for Southampton City CCG. |
Dr Saima Faizi (f)
After finishing my GP training in Wessex region 10 years ago I have been working in Southampton. I am also working with Southampton city CCG as a clinical lead. I am passionate about general practice and education in general practice . You will usually find me with a medical student or two in the consulting room. My interests are children and women health and respiratory disease. When I am not at work I am spending time with my squash obsessed family in one of the local squash clubs, playing badminton with some friends or tending my garden. |
Dr Nadia Fisher-Plum (f)
BM, MRCGP, DRCOG, DFSRH I graduated from Southampton University in 2008 and did my hospital posts in Southampton and Lymington. I trained as a GP in Hamble where I took up a salaried post for a year before joining the Shirley Health Partnership. I look forward to being part of the team and working within my local community. My clinical interests are Women's Health and Child's Health. I hold a diploma in Family planning and insert coils and contraceptive implants. I hope to develop my interest in Elderly Care Medicine in the future. Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my young family, going to the gym, reading a good novel and creative writing. |
Dr Magdy El-Gohary (m)
I graduated from Southampton Medical School in 2006 and moved to the Bournemouth and Poole areas where I trained and worked as a GP until August 2014. I returned to the area I live in to work and am glad to have joined the team at the Grove to give something back to my local community. I also work part time as an academic at the University of Southampton, where my main focus of research is on the detection of liver disease in the community, and to improve the management of minor illnesses, particularly avoiding the unnecessary use of antibiotics. I am hoping to increase the amount of research work performed in the practice. Outside of work I am a keen runner and hope to run several marathons next year. I also enjoy reading on almost any subject. |
Dr Sarah Evans (f)
I’ve been a GP since 2002 and I love the privilege of getting to know individuals at different times in their lives and the variety of people that I meet. I graduated and trained in the East End of London, with my first GP job being in Forest Gate, Newham, where I stayed for 9 years. I moved to Hampshire to be close to family, and have been working in Southampton since. I have three amazing girls, who teach me so much and keep me on my toes. We're quite an active family and all of us will be out on our bikes when we can, or enjoying the fresh air walking our dog. |
Dr Lily Chutter (f)
I graduated from Brighton and Sussex Medical School in 2012 and worked in South Wales for two years. I then moved to New Zealand where I worked in a hospital on the North Island for 6 months before travelling through Australia and South East Asia. Since being back in the UK, I have worked in Southampton General Hospital and a GP surgery in Hamble before joining the team in Shirley in September 2018. My main interests outside work is making the most out of life; music, travelling, skiing, cycling and baking which I love to share with family and friends (if I don’t eat it all myself)! |
Dr Oliver Morris (m)
Dr Oliver Morris I graduated from St Georges, University of London in 2008 and went on to work at Southampton General Hospital for three years. I did my general practice training at Chawton House Surgery in Lymington and initially worked as a locum GP in the area. In October 2017 I was delighted to return to SHP as a salaried GP and really appreciate the continuity of care this has allowed. My interests include Child Health (I am involved with the 'Healthier Together' project: https://www.what0-18.nhs.uk/), medical education (I am one of the Southampton GP Training Programme Directors) and the risks of overmedicalisation/overdiagnosis (https://www.preventingoverdiagnosis.net/). I still do occasional sessions for the Out of Hours GP service in the evenings/at weekends. I have lived locally in Southampton since 2007. When not at work (or operating an unofficial taxi service for my daughters!) I enjoy being outdoors with my family: walking, swimming or sailing. |

-- Personal Assistant (PA) information --
The PAs support the clinical team in the management of flow of paperwork we receive. In particular they may be helpful to you by helping chase up a clinic or referral letter. They are able to help arrange private medicals and co-ordinate with solicitors for reports. They also prepare paperwork for Department of Work & Pensions (DWP) medical forms. |
